Next-gen Manufacturing: Pave Your Career Path

The Raymond Corporation celebrated National Manufacturing month in October with Next-gen Manufacturing: Pave Your Career Path. The manufacturing industry is facing a shortage of 2 million workers by 2020 in areas ranging from engineering to production workers (according to research done by Deloitte in 2015). The future of manufacturing requires a talented workforce that builds upon the knowledge of today with advanced processes and technologies. We've already seen advancements enter the industry like robotics and 3D printing, and we're just starting to see more technology related to virtual reality or simulators. The future workforce needs to be able to interact with this kind of technology easily and be able to create the next innovation that will change how the industry operates.

Because of its significance and continuous growth, manufacturing should be shared with our future workforce year round, educating them on and preparing them for the jobs of the future. That’s what we try to do at Raymond year-round through everything from high school and university tours to co-ops and apprenticeships.

We were excited to hold our official National Manufacturing Day event, Next-gen Manufacturing: Pave your Career Path, on October 12, 2018, showcasing our award-winning operations and dedicated employees, but most importantly showing students first-hand that STEM and manufacturing careers are exciting, challenging and rewarding.

    Raymond Manufacturing Day Event

Working in part with BOCES and southern tier of New York State schools, we inspired students by showcasing STEM careers that can be found right here in their own backyard. Students participated in an interactive program which included virtual simulation and hands-on activities.

Students met with our high school apprentices and co-ops who currently work at Raymond and learned more about opportunities today and in their future. We also highlighted our advanced manufacturing facility with a tour of our manufacturing floor.
