James J. Malvaso - Chairman, The Raymond Corporation

 

James J. Malvaso is chairman of The Raymond Corporation. He is also president and CEO of Toyota Material Handling North America, and managing officer for TICO. He has held these positions since April 2010. Prior to this, Malvaso had been president and CEO of The Raymond Corporation since July 1997.

Toyota Industries Corporation acquired The Raymond Corporation in July 2000. In addition to his role as president and CEO he was then appointed a member of the Toyota Material Handling Group’s management committee. 

The Raymond Corporation board of directors elected Malvaso president and COO in August 1995. In this position, he had operations responsibility for Raymond, including facilities in Greene, NY; Syracuse, NY; and Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Further, he was responsible for National Accounts, Sales Administration and the Sales and Service Center Network.

Malvaso joined Raymond as vice president of Greene Operations in July 1993, focusing on modernizing the Greene manufacturing plant and bringing new information technology infrastructures to the company. Process improvements at all facilities have led to world-class quality and manufacturing standards in a period of significant growth for Raymond.

Under Malvaso’s leadership, Raymond was the first electric fork lift manufacturer in North America to successfully introduce AC technology for electric lift trucks in narrow aisle applications. During his tenure, the company has introduced several new products, including 3- and 4-wheel sit-down counterbalanced trucks as well as the leading-edge walkie pallet and walkie stacker trucks. Recently, Raymond has launched its iWarehouse® fleet optimization system that will help customers better manage their fork lift truck fleets and reduce operating costs.

Recognizing the need to expand the company’s testing and engineering capabilities, Malvaso oversaw the construction of a 47,000-square-foot addition to the Greene, NY, plant in 2000, which included a new 60-foot high bay lab area and a 30-foot clear ceiling in Raymond’s prototype lab. To better facilitate education of both dealer and customer personnel, he had a Learning Center built that incorporates the latest technologies.

Prior to joining Raymond, Malvaso served as vice president of operations from 1990 to 1993 for Pfaudler-US Inc., a manufacturer of glass-lined reactors, pressure vessels and accessories in Rochester, NY. Over a 10-year period, he also held positions as vice president of sales and vice president of operations for General Railway Signal Company, a unit of General Signal in Rochester. He began his career at Chrysler Corporation.

Malvaso holds an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon School, and a bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse.

Malvaso is a member of the board of directors for Graham Corporation of Batavia, NY, holding positions on the Audit Committee and the Nominating Committee, and is chairman of the Compensation Committee, and a member of the Advisory Board for JP Morgan Chase in Rochester. Malvaso is also a member of the board of trustees for LeMoyne College.

Active in the material handling industry, Malvaso is a member of the board of directors for the Industrial Truck Association (ITA) and served as its president from 2004 to 2007.

Charles Pascarelli - President, Sales and Marketing Division

Charles Pascarelli is president of the sales and marketing division of The Raymond Corporation, which includes sales, marketing, distribution development and aftermarket services. On March 22, 2010 he was appointed into this new role and was previously the Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

He joined the company in October 2007 as the Vice President, Sales and Marketing. In his role he was responsible for all aspects of marketing and sales of Raymond® products through The Raymond Corporation Dealer Network.

Mr. Pascarelli brought over 15 years of sales and marketing experience to The Raymond Corporation. Before joining Raymond he worked for seven years with the Fuji Film, Co., LTD., which is an international company serving the printing and publishing industry. During his time with Fuji he was vice president of Sales and Marketing of Pressroom Products. Prior to this he was vice president and general manager of Fuji Hunt Chemicals, Inc.

Before joining Fuji, Mr. Pascarelli spent ten years with Agfa Corporation, an international consumables and electronic company, where he was the general manager for Electronic Desktop Solutions and Director of Business Development.

Mr. Pascarelli has a Master’s of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, and has both a M.S. and B.S. from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.

Michael G. Field - President, Operations and Engineering Division

Michael G. Field has been appointed the President of the Operations and Engineering Division for The Raymond Corporation, which includes manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering and procurement. Field has over 20 years of experience managing engineering and operations groups at industrial companies.

Prior to Raymond, Field served as Vice President of Global Program Management for Brooks-PRI Automation in Chelmsford, MA, which leads the semiconductor automated material handling industry with state of the art controls and robotic solutions. Prior to that assignment, he was Vice President of Systems Integration at PRI Automation where he led their systems engineering organization.

Field began his career with Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, NY where he had a progression of product development leadership positions.

A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Field holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University and an MBA with a concentration in International Operations from Boston University. He is a council member of the Rochester Institute of Technology Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dean's Advisory Council, as well as a board member on the Advisory Board for Multidisciplinary Senior Design (MSD) at RIT Kate Gleason College of Engineering.

Field also holds the positions of Vice Chair and Director on the Board of NY-BEST (New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium, Inc.), and is a Raymond representative on the General Engineering Committee of the Industrial Truck Association (ITA).

Field has been with Raymond since 2004 and has served as executive vice president of operations and engineering at Raymond since January 2009. (PMP).

Timothy Combs - Vice President, Sales

Timothy Combs is vice president of sales for The Raymond Corporation. Combs has executive responsibility over both the Sales and Service Centers and National Account sales organizations. Combs brings with him over thirty years of Sales and Marketing experience to Raymond.

Combs was most recently a general manager at Associated Material Handling Industries, Inc., a Raymond Sales and Service Center headquartered outside of Chicago, IL. Prior to that assignment, he was the senior vice president of Sales & Marketing for Fujifilm Graphic Systems USA where he directed a sales force of over three hundred people.

Combs studied civil engineering at the University of Akron and has completed the Executive Management Program at Northwestern University.

John Everts - Vice President, Finance

John Everts is vice president, Finance for The Raymond Corporation. He joined the Raymond organization in 1990 as Corporate Controller and was promoted to Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer in 1996. His current responsibilities include internal and external financial reporting, income taxes, budgeting and treasury functions. He coordinates these activities with Raymond's direct parent company, BT Industries in Sweden, and our ultimate parent company, Toyota Industries Corporation in Japan. In addition, he is an officer and/or director of several Raymond subsidiaries and dealers and serves on the Administrative Committee for the Raymond benefit plans.

Prior to joining Raymond, Mr. Everts worked for the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP for nine years. During his time with Ernst & Young LLP, The Raymond Corporation was one of his clients along with several other public and private companies in a variety of industries.

Mr. Everts is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. Mr. Everts and his wife, Pam, live in Syracuse, New York.

David M. Furman - Vice President, Marketing

David M. Furman is vice president of Marketing for The Raymond Corporation. He joined the company in December 2007. In his role, he is responsible for all aspects of the Raymond program including marketing communications, market research and product marketing.

Mr. Furman brought over 16 years of marketing management, and business and channel development experience to The Raymond Corporation. Before joining Raymond he worked for thirteen years with the Agfa Corporation, which develops, produces and distributes an extensive range of analog and digital imaging systems and IT solutions, During his time with Agfa he was the Senior Manager of Business and Channel Development for the NAFTA region and before this he was the Senior Marketing Manager of computer-to-plate systems.

Mr. Furman earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, N.J. He also attended Bayer Corporation's Senior Business Management Program at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind.

Rick Harrington- Vice President, U.S. Manufacturing

Rick Harrington is vice president of U.S. Manufacturing a position to which he was promoted in 2009. Previously he was the vice president and general manager for Raymond's Greene operations group.

Mr. Harrington joined The Raymond Corporation in 1983 and has over 28 years of service. Before joining Raymond, he worked as Quality Auditor for Universal Instruments a circuit board manufacturer located in Binghamton, New York.

Mr. Harrington received a Bachelors Degree from Empire State University and in 2006 received his MBA from the Binghamton University School of Management.

Tim Koval - Vice President, Aftermarket Operations and CLO

Tim Koval is vice president of Aftermarket Operations and is The Raymond Corporation's chief legal officer, positions to which he was promoted to in 2006. Mr. Koval joined The Raymond Corporation in 1989 as the assistant to general counsel. From 1996 to 1998, he was the associate general counsel and in 1998, he was promoted to vice president, general counsel and secretary.

Before joining Raymond, Mr. Koval was an attorney with the law firm Hinman, Howard & Kattell in Binghamton, NY. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana and a Bachelor's Degree from Duke University, North Carolina.

Mr. Koval serves on the board of directors for Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital and is a trustee for St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, both in Binghamton, NY. He is also a board member and president of the Southern Tier Hockey Association, Ltd. Previously he was an officer and served on the board of directors for the Catholic Schools of Broome County.

Mr. Koval is a member of the American, New York State and Broome County Bar associations. Other organizations of which he is member include the American Corporate Counsel Association and the Products Liability Advisory Council. He also represents The Raymond Corporation at Industrial Truck Association meetings.

Patrick J. McManus - Vice President, Distribution Development

Patrick J. McManus is vice president of Distribution Development for The Raymond Corporation, responsible for supporting the company's extensive dealer network. He joined the organization in 1980. Before being promoted to his current position, Mr. McManus held a variety of leadership positions including president of The Raymond Leasing Corporation and treasurer of The Raymond Corporation.

Prior to joining The Raymond Corporation, Mr. McManus worked as a CPA for a Binghamton, NY accounting firm. He has Bachelor of Science degree from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York.

Mr. McManus is a trustee and chairperson of the Finance Committee for St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton, New York.

Jim O'Brien - Vice President, Integrated Customer Solutions

Jim O’Brien is vice president of Integrated Customer Solutions for The Raymond Corporation. In this position, Jim ensures overall customer satisfaction with Raymond and Raymond’s authorized Sales and Service Centers. He also oversees improvement initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience. Jim manages customer care, field service, Syracuse Parts sales and marketing division, and Syracuse Parts distribution center. He previously held the position of vice president of quality and customer support, having responsibility over product quality and product health in all of Raymond's manufacturing locations. Joining Raymond in 1994 as the manager of Raymond Electronics, Jim has held a variety of positions in quality, engineering, operations and National Accounts. Before joining Raymond, Jim worked for General Electric/Lockheed Martin in manufacturing, as well as project and program management. Jim has a BSEE degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, and master's degree in engineering management from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Edward J. Rompala - Chief Financial Officer

Edward J. Rompala is the chief financial officer for The Raymond Corporation. He joined Raymond in 1998, bringing with him twelve years of financial management experience.

Prior to joining Raymond, Mr. Rompala was the Vice President of Finance and Treasurer of the Genesee Corporation, a food and beverage company.

Mr. Rompala holds a MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester's Simon School of Management and a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Kurt Schoepfle - Chief Procurement Officer

Kurt Schoepfle is the chief procurement officer for The Raymond Corporation. He joined Raymond in 2006, bringing with him over twenty two years of procurement experience.

Prior to joining Raymond, Mr. Schoepfle was the Director of Asian OEM Sales at Siemens Automotive, a worldwide supplier of automotive electronic and electro-mechanical components.

Mr. Schoepfle holds a MBA in International Business Management from the University of Toledo and a BS in Biology from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH.

Stephen E. VanNostrand - Vice President, Human Resources

Stephen E. VanNostrand is vice president of Human Resources for The Raymond Corporation. He joined Raymond in June 2001, bringing with him fifteen years of global Human Resources management experience.

Prior to joining Raymond, Mr. VanNostrand was Human Resources Director for the Telematics and Multimedia Division at Visteon Corporation, a global automotive supplier. He also held a variety of leadership positions within Ford Motor Company.

He serves as the Board of Directors Chairperson and Human Resources Subcommittee Chairperson for the American Red Cross, Southern Tier Chapter. He also is a board member for the RTF Children's Home. Previously he held officer positions in the Saline, Michigan Tax Increment Finance Board and the Saline Economic Development Corporation.

Mr. VanNostrand holds a Master's Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York at Oswego.
